The History of Dandys Ford

The History of Dandys Ford

During 2001 an opportunity arose to purchase a 16 acre piece land in Sherfield English that was exceptionally wet. As an avid fisherman looking to realise a long term pension plan the Metcalfe family felt it was the ideal site to develop into a fishery with tea room/cafe for the fisherman. The following 18 months after purchase was taken up obtaining the necessary planning permissions - not an easy task in such a beautiful area.

Landscaping and Ecological Issues

Landscaping and ecological issues were delicate matters. After numerous surveys and conditions planning was eventually granted for the construction of 3 lakes and a cafe. We now have the Lodge Lake for carp, tench, crucian carp roach and chub we are on the verge of our first 20lb carp. The Kingfisher Canal is ideal for pole fishing and have a variety of fish in the lake with koi and ghost carp predominant to 13 lbs.
